Sydney to Tilpa and Broken Hill

We look forward to welcoming you at Bankstown Airport, Sydney, as we prepare to depart on this unique flying safari exploring The Outback and its iconic pubs. We board our private aircraft and set course for the west to the small Outback town of Tilpa for lunch The Tilpa Hotel. Established in 1894 to service the river boat trade, the pub is a classic, character-filled Outback pub made of corrugated iron and timber. After lunch we make our way to the Outback mining town of Broken Hill.

We spend the evening in the Silver City of Broken Hill, which once boasted 70 pubs! Enjoy pre-dinner drinks surrounded by grandiose murals at the colourful Palace Hotel, famous from “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”. We celebrate our last night in the Outback with dinner at the boutique Broken Hill Pub, built in 1886.

Broken Hill to Marree and William Creek

This morning after breakfast we visit the interactive Flying Doctors Museum in the Silver City before we fly to lunch at the magnificent heritage listed Marree Hotel, regarded as the most impressive in the Outback. Marvel at the spectacular scenery as we fly past famous landmarks including Lake Frome, The Flinders Ranges, the Marree Man and Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre to the remote town of William Creek (population 10) on the famous Oodnadatta Track.  Enjoy true Outback hospitality with drinks and  dinner at The William Creek Hotel .

We spend the day in William Creek exploring the surrounding area and natural landscapes. Enjoy the epic night sky on our last night at this truly remote Outback location.

William Creek to Oodnadatta and Birdsville

An exciting day to witness more mesmerising images as our flight in our private aircraft takes through Lake Eyre. Enjoy aerial views of this spectacular landscape before landing “in the middle of nowhere” at the licenced Pink Roadhouse in Oodnadatta, for a well earned beer and lunch.

We soar across the magnificent Simpson Desert, flying at an altitude where we have a bird’s eye view of more than 1100 sand dunes, to the iconic Outback town of Birdsvillle in Queensland. Upon landing, we taxi the aircraft right up to the front door of the pub, where else in the world can you do this? Experience the stunning sunset over “Big Red”, the tallest sand dune in The Simpson Desert, while enjoying a beer or wine.

Birdsville to Innamincka and Tibooburra

After breakfast we board our private plane flying to Innamincka, where we stop at the pub for lunch, one of the most remote towns in Australia. With a vibrant natural beauty, the town sits on the Cooper Creek, lined with river gums filled with masses of native birds.

Next stop is Tibooburra in Corner Country, surrounded by an arid landscape and remarkable granite rocky outcrops. You cannot miss the extraordinary Clifton Pugh mural in the bar of the popular watering hole of The Family Hotel. This evening we are dining at this iconic pub and enjoying the local hospitality.

Tibooburra to Bourke and Sydney

After a leisurely start to the day we board our aircraft to fly to the bush town of Bourke, on the Darling River. We land out the ‘Back O’ Bourke’ (a well known colloquial term meaning a long way away) we are approximately 800kms away from home! We enjoy a hearty lunch at the Port of Bourke pub and a stroll along the river. Enjoy the scenery and relax as we cruise back to Sydney.

Excursions: The included excursions on this tour are:

– Toast the sunset at “Big Red”, the tallest sand dune in the Simpson Desert, with drinks and canapes, Birdsville.

– Fly across the Simpson Desert at an altitude providing the best views, and fastest way of seeing the thousands of sand dunes.

– Fly over Lake Eyre and the Marree Man in the comfort of your private air conditioned aircraft.

– Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service base and museum at Broken Hill, after having flown over the Flinders Ranges and Lake Frome.

Transportation: As per the itinerary, air transport provided is to and from each lunch and dinner destination. Most Hotels, are located within a few hundred metres to a few Kms from where we will be landing. Several destinations allow us to taxi virtually right to the Hotel.

Accommodation: Guests are accommodated in twin share rooms.

A limited number of single rooms are also available. All rooms have a private ensuite, unless stated otherwise.

Accommodation is the best available where we are staying.

Guests are responsible for drinks at each destination.

Throughout this Outback By Air Tour, guests will be accompanied by two experienced pilots.

This tour involves a small amount of walking from the airport to some venues where transport is not available, please advise the crew if you have any mobility concerns with walking a distance of up to 700 metres.
