day 1

Sydney to Tibooburra

The crew welcome you to our private lounge at Bankstown Airport. We begin our journey as we board our private plane and head north west. Take in the views from a completely different perspective. The Cessna Grand Caravan’s high wings and oversized windows are perfect for “flight seeing”. Our first stop is the Outback town of Bourke to enjoy a pub lunch and visiting the Back O Bourke Exhibition Centre.

Enjoy the views of the Strzelecki Desert as we track to our overnight destination of Tibooburra, surrounded by an arid landscape and remarkable granite rocky outcrops. You cannot miss the extraordinary Clifton Pugh mural in the bar as we enjoy welcome drinks in the popular watering hole of the Family Hotel.

Accommodation:  The Tibooburra Hotel, historic two-storey sandstone hotel

Tibooburra to Birdsville and William Creek

A day to remember as we take in the magic of Australia’s largest inland salt lake, Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre. Witness the floodwaters from record-breaking rains in Queensland as they flow down the Channel Country. We land at the famous Outback town of Birdsville where our aircraft can taxi us right up to the front door of the iconic pub. After lunch enjoy the beautiful views of the rivers, Goyder Lagoon and Channel Country as we make our way down to Lake Eyre North.

From where the Warburton River enters the Kati Thanda, we fly all the way down the lake, approximately 100kms, to the remote post of William Creek.

This evening we enjoy true Outback hospitality with dinner at the authentic bush pub, The William Creek Hotel. This pub is loved by travellers from all around the world, with a front bar decorated by hundreds of notes, memorabilia and mementos.

Our morning flight takes us over the super model of South Australia, The Painted Hills of Anna Creek Station. Keep an eye out for Lake Torrens, another inland salt lake before meeting the magnificent Flinders Ranges where we will land at the airstrip at the Praire Hotel at Parachilna. Enjoy “feral” gourmet produce at this elegant country style hospitality experience.

Back in the air we track towards the famous Outback mining town of Broken Hill, known as The Silver City. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks surrounded by grandiose murals at the colourful Palace Hotel, famous from “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”. We celebrate our last night in the Outback with dinner at the Tydvil Hotel with its award winning Gin Distillery.
