Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary

With a geological history reaching back almost 2 billion years, this ancient landscape also has an extraordinary human history.

Arkaroola features many unique geological monuments, rugged mountains, towering granite peaks, magnificent gorges and mysterious waterholes. This sanctuary is home to a huge range of species of birds, reptiles and mammals including the shy and endangered Yellow-Footed Rock-Wallaby.

Mungo National Park

An adventure you will never forget in the internationally renowned World Heritage Mungo National Park - one of the world’s most ancient and precious cultural treasure!

Exploring Mungo’s ancient history - home of The Mungo Man and Mungo Woman. Experience sunset at the top of the Walls of China, which allows exclusive access to a special location in the park for the perfect sunset with a stunning 360° view.

Trilby Station

A true Australian Outback station experience- A true Australian Outback station experience,

Trilby Station - gaining insight into the life on a remote sheep property. We enjoy drinks and canapes under the stars and share stories about station life with our host, Liz Murray, over the campfire.

Sydney to Mungo National Park

The crew welcome you to our private lounge at Bankstown Airport. We begin our journey heading west to Mungo National Park- The oasis of Outback NSW. 

Once settled into our accommodation we head out on a sunset tour to explore the archaeological treasures of Mungo Man and Mungo Woman, Walls of China, wildlife and flora – an unforgettable experience.

Mungo National Park to Arkaroola Wildlife Sanctuary

Enjoy a relaxing Ouback morning at Mungo before we head to Broken Hill for lunch then onto the Flinders Ranges to our next destination, Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary (Balcanoona). We head out with our local guides to discover the ruggedly spectacular northern Flinders Ranges.

We travel by 4WD through ancient parts of the wild and rugged landscape. By sunset we arrive at a spectacular lookout point and witness Arkaroola and the Ranges awash in ever-changing hues of light at one of the best sunset locations in South Australia. Our local guides will provide commentary and insights into this unique area while watching one of nature’s greatest light shows, accompanied by South Australian wine, beer and canapes.

Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary to Trilby Station

We explore Arkaroola’s precipitous peaks and valleys, extreme topographic diversity, its gorges, creeks and open woodlands. Back in the air, we fly across the Strezelecki Desert to Tibooburra for a lunch stop in Channel Country. We continue east to spend our final night at Trilby Station, a remote family owned 320,000 acre sheep station. This is the true Australian Outback station experience. We enjoy drinks and canapes under the stars and share stories about station life with our host, Liz Murray, around the campfire.

Triliby Station to Bankstown

Enjoy a country cooked breakfast before Liz takes us on a walking tour showing us the shearing shed and hangar, which houses the working vehicles of the station, while telling us about life on the property.

We farewell Trilby and the Outback to begin our flight home. Sit back, relax and reflect on our journey as Foxtrot Tango Tango takes us back to Sydney.

Accommodation: Accommodation venues are listed in the itinerary. Guests are accommodated in twin/double share rooms (bedding subject to request). A limited number of single rooms are also available.  All rooms are air conditioned with a private ensuite, unless stated otherwise. Please note bathrooms are shared at Trilby Station.

Taxes & National Park Passes: All Air Transport taxes and National Park passes are included for daily excursions.

General: Guests will be accompanied by two experienced Outback by Air pilots.
